Cee’s Odd Ball Photo Challenge: Week 1

Growing up I would have never thought my MeMe (grandmother) had a sense of humor. She made me do what I didn’t want and wouldn’t let me do what I did want. I rarely chose to see her humor which was always there. I never understood how privileged I was to be raised by her until I was much older.

By the time I had children of my own her genius sense of humor was obvious. This is one of my favorite photos of her. It shows just what an odd ball humorist she was and I’m so grateful have turned out just like her.

In case you’re wondering, she’s wearing the hoop skirt from my mother’s wedding dress. This photo was taken after the reception of my mom’s wedding. I think she was a little loopy by this time.

  1. Too funny! Reminds me of the Azalea Trail Maids where I grew up in Mobile, Alabama. It was a group of high school girls that were chosen to dress up in these enormous old-fashion Southern Belle dresses.

    • Funny. I always wanted to dress like that, dress like a princess. I’m just not that kind of princess, I’m more like princess Leia. The dress actually was simple A-line, but that’s what they did back then, even up north in Mass. Oh, I hope that doesn’t mean we’re at odds – north and south 🙂

      • Haha no worries. I know many southerners who would claim otherwise, bit that hatchet was buried long ago!

      • Have you been south lately?? My Georgian family seems to have trouble letting go. I have a brother and a cousin who enjoy keeping up the fight, what is that about???

But I know may who have let it go, I say good for them.

Thanks for the comment, you made me laugh!

  2. My mom had a hoop in her wedding dress too. I adore this photo! Thanks for telling a little of your odd ball story! 🙂
